Frequently asked questions about UWIRE PR
How does UWIRE PR send out my release? Releases are sent to a list of hundreds of subscribers, all of whom have opted to receive them. Many/most of those subscribers are student newspaper editors and staff, student radio and TV stations and other media outlets. Any releases issued through our company are also posted here on our PR site (www.uwirepr.com), on our Twitter feed (@uwirepr) and linked on the front page of UWIRE.com, the nation’s largest wire service exclusively for campus media outlets.
Can I approve releases before they’re sent out? Yes, we will e-mail you a test copy of both the HTML and plain text versions of your release for approval before we send it out. Once you approve it, we can send it out immediately or at any specific time in the future.
How quickly can you send out my release? Our office is staffed Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm Eastern. If you order a release during those hours, we will get a test copy to you as soon as possible. Once you approve it, the release can be issued within minutes. Often, this whole process takes roughly 30 minutes from the moment you order it until it hits the e-mail boxes of subscribers. If you order a release after 5pm Eastern or over the weekend, we will process it at 9am the following business day. There are certain times of day and days of the week when sending your release tends to generate greater interest from member papers. We will be happy to work with you to find a good distribution time to make sure you get the most bang for your buck.
How much does it cost to send a release? Standard releases cost $500 each. UWIRE offers discounts for non-profit groups – must hold 501(c)3 status. Discounted rates are also available for pre-paid packages of five or 10 releases. Pre-paid releases can be used at any time in the future. E-mail us for volume discount pricing information.
How can I pay for my release? PayPal is our preferred method of payment. Effective April 14, 2010, UWIRE PR now offers a 10% discount ($450) on single releases paid via PayPal at the time the release is issued. The discount does not apply to items paid for after they are released or to releases paid via invoice. After submitting your release, you will be taken to PayPal to pay us directly and securely.
